New to FFWB?
Attending a church for the first time can make a person feel a little nervous or maybe even awkward. At First Free Will, we strive to make our guests (we don’t use the word “visitor”) feel comfortable and at ease. Here’s some FAQ&A that might help. If you don’t see the answer to your question, just send an email to pastor@ffwbwagoner.org. He’ll be happy to give you an answer!
Why CHURCH?
The primary reason we gather on Sundays is to worship the God who offers the forgiveness of sins and a relationship with Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. In other words, it is more about Him than it is about us. In a typical service, we sing about Him and to Him. Our pastor will teach us about Him, and our hope is that everyone will encounter and connect with Him in a personal and life-transforming way.
What is a service usually like?
Pretty simple, actually... we sing, worship together, and hear God's Word taught with relevant application. We value being authentic and real. We realize ultimately everything we do is about worshipping our Savior Jesus Christ.
What should I wear?
You’ll find that we are not an overly formal church. You may see some in their “Sunday Best” while others wear their “Only Best”. Some men wear ties, some wear blue jeans. Some women wear dresses, some prefer slacks. Our only “dress code” is modesty.
Are there programs for young people?
We have an active children & teens ministry. During the worship service, the teens have Teen Worship service, and the little ones have Children’s Church. Our nursery is staffed on Sunday mornings. So, no matter the “age or stage”, your children are taught and cared for by competent, caring people during the worship service. If you have any other questions about our children and teen programs, you’re welcome to ask our Youth Pastor, youth(at)ffwbwagoner.org
Do I have to give money?
We ask that you let God direct your heart when it comes to giving financially. Financially supporting First Free Will is ultimately an act of worship to God for those who share our vision and mission. We certainly have no expectation of you giving financially as a guest.
How can I get involved?
We’re happy when people want to get involved and be included! The first thing we invite you to do is join a Sunday School Class. We believe that one of the best ways to strengthen your walk with Christ is to get involved with a small group. Sunday School will enable you to grow not only in God's Word, but also to get to know others. We also have Bible Study, Master’s Men and Ladies Auxiliary groups that enjoy seeing new faces.
How can I help?
This is the part where you thought we were going to ask for money, right? And with some churches that is the “bottom line”. But here at First Free Will, we believe God and trust Him for our financing. We’re more concerned about having enough “workers for the harvest”.
Scripture tells us that “faith without works is dead”. Becoming a Christian and then not working for Him is like accepting a job and never showing up for work. It is our continual prayer that God will send us dedicated, faithful workers to help us further the cause of Christ. We have so many things that need to be done, you’re sure to find a way to serve God here.
First, pray and ask God where He wants to use you. Visit our “Servant” section, make your selection and email our Pastor. It’s that easy!
Is First Free Will affiliated with any group or organization?
First Free Will is affiliated with the National Association of Free Will Baptists. The roots of Free Will Baptists can be traced back to before the founding of our nation. The Bible and the redemptive work of Jesus has always been at the center of the Free Will Baptist movement. We cherish our traditions of faith. At the same time, our goal is not to reproduce denominational loyalty, but to reach out to people who are moving toward a personal, growing faith in Jesus Christ. Perhaps you’ve never been a part of a Free Will Baptist Church. Still, we invite you to walk with us in building a church that focuses on the highest goals of the kingdom of Christ. You can find out more about Free Will Baptist and what our church in particular believes on the “What We Believe” page.
Why should I join a church?
Membership in any church will not guarantee you a place in Heaven. But by joining in fellowship with other members, we form a family whose function is to love and serve one another. This helps us to grow as Christians. Just as your street address tells the world where you live, church membership tells the world where you have committed to worship, grow, and serve.
How do I become a member?
While membership is not a requirement to attend services or join our auxiliary organizations, our Pastor is always happy to discuss church membership as an option for anyone who agrees with our Church Covenant, Treatise, and Bylaws.
